Today, i decided to cobble up a front receiver hitch..I picked up the hitch from my local buddy which happens to run a salvage yard..$25

I integrated it into my ranchhand brush guard.. I still have to weld up some support bracket to frame mounts just for good measure, and grind down some welds..but it's pretty much done..

And so began my front crossmember fabrication.

Fills the gap nicely, huh?

The crossmember/hitch reciever is welded to pieces of 1/2" pate that are tapped for the bolts to thread into.

The flat plate underneath (parallel to the ground) is 3/8", and the rest is all 1/4"

But since the bolts were going all the way from outside the framerail to inside, I needed some sturdy tube inside to make sure it didn't just crush everything. So, back to the scrapyard...

For my luckiest day ever - some rems from a machine shop - perfect ID, thick wall - perfect.

A bit of paint, turnin some wrenches, and there she is:

.

This guy was using it as a crossmember for his sas but I would go with this over the grill guard mounting method.

So, even if the receiver is bolted to the frame, this still isnt strong enough for your liking..? what is it going to take to please you..? not that i'm trying to please anyone on this forum or over on fsc, i just like sharing my mods with like minded folks...
