    Rough idle - vacuum

I’ve sprayed carb cleaner on all the vacuum lines I can see to no avail. I did forget to check the canister. Wires are correct. Not sure of the fuel pressure or the compression. I tried hooking up a rented scan tool but it wouldn’t communicate (though no engine codes). I’ve just been driving it...

    Rough idle - vacuum

Can I try capping the line going to the EGR? Or is that not gonna work to troubleshoot?

    Rough idle - vacuum

I’m chasing a terribly rough idle. 1991 5.7 tbi 2wd. New plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. Was going to pull the Egr off to clean and or replace it. I noticed there is a line going to the Egr and then an open hole where there should be a vacuum line? Where does it go and could this cause my rough idle

    Tapping/ticking noise

Hi there, I have a 1991 gmc Sierra 2wd Reg cab. No engine codes. Rough idle (been there a long time). New plugs, wires, rotor, and cap. Today it Just started making a tapping noise (sounds like metal on metal) on the driver side. Doesn’t sound like motor knock. Almost sounds like a rocker arm...

Transfer case Front Output shaft seal

Gotcha. Thank you. See when it’s the transfer case front output seal leaking - is it the pictures in the first post or second post. Thank you!

Transfer case Front Output shaft seal

Or am I looking at the wrong shaft? Is this the front transfer case output shaft?

    Front diff play

I was under my truck today just to spray down the axle seals to see how bad they are weeping. While under there, I noticed some play (moving the shaft clockwise/counter-clockwise) in the shaft from the front diff to the transfer case. Is this normal?

Transfer case Front Output shaft seal

Finally got a chance to look at the seal. The actual seal itself looks ok to me…is there another seal in the yoke itself? Also, I don’t see a Center support or hanger bearing - do these trucks not come With one? Thanks

Transfer case Front Output shaft seal

Hi there, I just picked up an 1989 k1500. I’m ok doing a lot of the work myself but I didn’t feel like tackling the intake manifold gasket so I brought it in for that and an inspection. It does need some work, steering, CV joint, front axle seals, etc. It also needs the front output shaft seal...

    1989 Axle seals

Gotcha. Haven’t been under it much since I got it but I’m sure most steering/suspension needs help lol

    1989 Axle seals

Update on this: truck has a vibration up at higher speeds, other than tires, etc, how often would a worn CV joint also wear out the half shaft/axle? Wondering if I should just do seals, CV, and axle shaft at the same time

TBI still missing, failed emissions, code 34...

Did you replace the EGR solenoid too? I know some people do both at the same time

    High volume oil pump

Thank you! I will not worry about it for now then!

    1989 Axle seals

A little off topic but is there some suspension/steering stuff I should do at the same time as the seals? Pretty sure the CV’s are sub optimal so I was going to do those, too

    High volume oil pump

Hey there, The previous owner of my 1989 Chevy 1500 replaced the cam and at the same time put a high volume oil pump in. I have the service ticket for it and it says not to trust the oil gauge on the dash. When cold and driving it’s maxed out on the gauge but when warm at a light it drops...

    1989 Axle seals

Hi there, Just picked up a 1989 gmc ck1500 reg cab 4x4. It needs the front axle seals replaced. I had a shop do a once over of the truck when I got it and was quoted $900 CAD for both seals and axle replacement. Im fairly confident I can R&R both sides with some time. Is that cost what...
