    88-94 radio lights

Alright, here's what I installed: Radio - I took EW10 bulbs off these and installed them in the original bases. Climate controller - I bought the DW10's with the correct base. The radio looks dimmer than the climate controller, which makes me think the radio actually takes EW87 bulbs. The new...

    88-94 radio lights

Down the rabbit hole, now that I see these are end-of-life items... I did not know about these bulb size standards; found this video with a great explanation of how to figure out their size: The bulb with the grey base from the radio says 14V and 1.4W, so that means 0.1A. I measured one bulb...

    88-94 radio lights

Got lucky... It looks like these are the radio ones. And these for the climate controller.

This is what my radio looks like ('91 with all the bells and whistles). Where do I get new bulbs?

    Engine oil level dipstick 1992 c1500 5.7

FYI I have the parts book published in 1992 so it only covers 88-91 model years, but across that range the part number for the 5.0/5.7L V8 "oil level indicator" is 10110878. According to this site and another one, it was superceded by 10190973. (EDIT I tried to order that and they say they...

    Convenience Center Removal

Do you mind posting the wiring diagram? I'm adding these as reverse lights and it may be cool to have a high/low switch.

    88-94 Factory Stereo Info

Is this the correct routing for the belt? I put a tape in there and just got clicking, and it wouldn't eject. Now, messing around with it by hand, it seems the belt tension is not enough to drive the eject mechanism.

"Stock" 1991 K2500 5.7L V8 fails smog with unburned gas at exhaust.

Alright - the smoke when I stop the engine has ceased. It coincided with me capping off the dipstick tube, so maybe oil was splattering all over the top of the engine. Not sure if it was that, or something the shop spilled something which has now fully evaporated. Here's my understanding of the...

"Stock" 1991 K2500 5.7L V8 fails smog with unburned gas at exhaust.

I let the truck sit for two days and started the engine. Zero smoke came out of the exhaust, which I read was a symptom of bad valve seals. On the driver's side rocker cover (which is the non-PCV side), there's a hose that goes to a catch can. From there, a hose goes back under the air cleaner...

"Stock" 1991 K2500 5.7L V8 fails smog with unburned gas at exhaust.

Truck passed smog with: - New California cat ($750 just for that). That was more visual than an actual chemical necessity; the old cat was new but just not CARB certified. - New sparkplugs, wires, distributor rotor and cap, O2 sensor (they just put a one-wire unit in), and fuel filter. -...

"Stock" 1991 K2500 5.7L V8 fails smog with unburned gas at exhaust.

I went to look at the truck at the shop. I think they're just trying to understand if I'm really going through with this or not. Good news all around; they are budget-conscious people. They did not put the old plugs back in (in fact, one of them broke when they pulled the wire off). The O2...

"Stock" 1991 K2500 5.7L V8 fails smog with unburned gas at exhaust.

Thanks for the pointers, @Schurkey. I'm hoping I can get over to the shop tomorrow, talk to them about what they want to talk about, and move on to the next step. The truck has just been sitting now probably since Friday with no one working on it.

"Stock" 1991 K2500 5.7L V8 fails smog with unburned gas at exhaust.

Just bought this truck from a curious, inventive fellow. He built his own carburetor out of mason jars for a home-brew small house generator.... On the truck, some things he's done well, and others have been questionable. So I say "stock" because I'm not entirely sure what he's done to it. For...
