    You wont be doing a solid weld around the nut I hope, all you need is a good tack weld. The 5th gear issue is with all of the nv4500 trannys, It is more of an issue with people lugging the trans in 5th gear, I wouldnt take the chance of having any back off issue with the nut and just weld it...

    Does the drive line coming out of the transfer case going to the front turn with relation to the rear drive line? (Yes) Then your actuator, or donkey dick in your front end is likely to blame No your could have transfer case issues or a improper install on the actuator on the t-case

    Im in the same boat man, I lost a power steering line and it soaked mine with fluid so I took it out, don't really like the engine noise I get now.
