NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

yeah so I just went and looked at a yard. This is NOT possible with a 2wd without a complete rework and redesign of the front end. OBS and NBS 2wd are completely different lower, upper control arms. spindles are different heights. control arms are totally totally different. myth busted.

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

I bet you are probably right, but why do you think so? Is it worth a trip to the yard to look? I really need this swap for the offset and for the brakes.

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

Right. But stock wheels are 0 offset and the wheels I am getting are +31mm offset and 1 inch wider. So, there will be a total of 2.25ish "more" wheel protruding "behind" the wheel mounting surface of the hub/rotor. So I need and want offset.

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

Wow, so a NBS 2WD LCA fits "inside" the spindle/knuckle as opposed to underneath it, like the OBS 2wd? So, *IF* a NBS LCA swap was possible, would the geometry be messed up because they are so different?

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

but the top balljoint should work the same, no? I wonder if the entire lower control arm can be swapped to a NBS arm. then the NBS balljoint could be used, and only the upper would be need to be reamed. Also, and this could be a stupid question, but could a 4x4 OBS lower arm used? In...

NBS Front Brake Swap for OBS Trucks

I am trying to do this to a '96 2wd to accomodate NNBS 18x8 6-lug wheels that I just bought. It seems cost prohibitive- I am calling junkyards and finding that the knuckle, hub, rotor, and caliper would be $290 PER SIDE. For used salvage parts. Also will the ABS hook right up? edit: Yes. I...

    changing to 6 lug

so for those intending to run NNBS wheels (ltz 20's), is it better to get a 4wd or 2wd 14bolt? since we will need spacers in the front, is it better to have the wider axle? I need a positive answer on this.

    HELP! (please :) ) Wheel Fitment 96 RCSB 2wd

so I found a GT4 code axle 4x2 with 3.73posi for a good price. I have not gone to look at it yet, but I am concerned about abs? my truck is an 96, the axle is a 1988, will it have provisions for abs hookup??? also, I would like to go to disc brakes while I am at it, if it fits in my...

    HELP! (please :) ) Wheel Fitment 96 RCSB 2wd

Cool. So as long as watch the tire height and don't go above that height, 20's or 18's should be fine as far as the offset is concerned? I might consider get the axles welded, but if I can find one cheap enough, I would like to upgrade to 14 bolt positrac with 3.73 or 4.11's.. right now I have...

    HELP! (please :) ) Wheel Fitment 96 RCSB 2wd

Hmm. That sucks. So, off the top of your head, would the 18*.8.5 wheels work, and if so, what size tire would be appropriate?

    HELP! (please :) ) Wheel Fitment 96 RCSB 2wd

the tires are 275-60-20 and the wheels are 20*8.5. he also has a set of oem 18's from a 2010ish truck. those don't have tires mounted, so I would have flexibility there. I would prefer 20's if they fit well and don't stick way out or anything.

    HELP! (please :) ) Wheel Fitment 96 RCSB 2wd

I am about to buy some 2013 Tahoe 20's for a good price. See attached pic. Truck is a '96 2wd Silvy, lowered 2/4 via springs. My understanding is to convert to 6-lug, I will need to: 1. Use 2wd 2500 hub/rotor assemblies on my existing spindles -OR- get NBS spindles and brakes and mod...
