    Unopened cassette

It’s kinda funny how the instructions for the audio system are on an unopened cassette tape. Guess everyone rode in silence for 29 years…

    93 C2500 shifting hard

This is gonna sound strange, but try disconnecting the alternator and driving it. I’ve read that on the electronically controlled transmissions a bad diode in the alternator can introduce AC voltage into the electrical system and throw off the computer. Worth a shot and it won’t cost you anything.

    88-94 Factory Stereo Info

Gentlemen, reading all these posts has sparked my interest in putting the stock radio back in my truck. I was luckily able to score the rare 1989 only head unit from eBay and scoured the junkyard last weekend and scored 2 EQ CDMs and 2 tape decks w/EQ. Got it all cobbled together and I've got...

    A/C Won't Work

Nope. Just regular old R134a. I keep telling him that those little old belt driven compressors are designed to compress gas, not liquid, but he doesn't want to listen to me. Plus it's super easy to overcharge that way. Sometimes when I'm running a tractor, I can look out the window and see the...

    A/C Won't Work

Gotcha. ;) I've seen my boss charge up cotton pickers and tractors without pulling a vacuum. It does work in a pinch when the equipment is out in the field and there's no electricity around. And then when he charges from the 30 lb cylinders, for some reason he ONLY puts liquid in them. Then...

    A/C Won't Work

I mean no disrespect to you Tempted, but this is one of the reasons why you pull a vacuum. One to get the moisture out, and the other so you don't have to jump the switch. :) Just let the vacuum pull as much refrigerant in as it can and that should be enough to let the compressor cycle on and...

A/C Compressor is kicking off and on

mine cycles on and off on floor or defrost. But mine's an '89, so the controls are a bit different than a '94. The '94 has a recirc button and a 4 speed fan instead of a 3 speed. Who knows the way GM has them wired up...

    A/C Won't Work

Did you also replace the accumulator and orifice tube as well? If not, you should. Then pull a vacuum on the system for at least 30 minutes. I prefer 45 min-1 hour. (this pulls all the moisture out of the system). You can rent a vacuum pump and gauges from the parts store to do this. Then, let...

A/C Compressor is kicking off and on

Sounds like the system may be low on refrigerant. To check it without gauges, feel the line (the big one) on the backside of the compressor. It should be cold and sweating. If not, read on. Put the A/C on max, fan on high, windows down. Does it still kick on and off rapidly? If so, assuming you...

    Thinking outside the box here...

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking. I fiddled around with the timing yesterday and advanced it by a few degrees. I'm going to see how it performs and might throw a few more in there if all goes well.

    Thinking outside the box here...

I was thinking about a bunch of random stuff today, and the idea popped into my head of taking a HEI distributor and putting it in my '89, replacing the stock computer controlled one. This way, I would have control over timing and advance curve, not the computer. Would this work without setting...

need help with keyless entry installation

f3joel, you hit the nail right on the head. I simply had terminals 87a and 30 reversed on both relays. Everything works just fine now. I'm super happy that I don't have to fumble around with my keys in the rain anymore. lol. Thank you both very much for the help. Josh

need help with keyless entry installation

Hey everyone! Just joined the forum and I have to say, what an awesome resource it is. Great info and great people. My question has to do with a Bulldog Security remote start/keyless entry that I'm installing. Model RS1200. Got the remote start working. That was easy. What's killing me is the...
