    1500....diesel?

My dad had a '95 GMC 1500, ext cab shortbed 4x4, with a naturally aspirated 6.5 and a 5 speed. He bought it new, for fuel economy, and it delivered. Total unicorn, never seen another one with that configuration.

    What's your mpg...

1998 Silverado ext cab short box 2wd. 350 vortec, 4l60, 3.73. Stock size 235's on stock 15" wheels. I am fanatical about measuring fuel economy. Fill up, zero odometer, fill up again, divide litres by km. 75% highway, 25% city. Every tank. 17.5-18mpg is the norm. Best I've ever got was on...

    Tow package - white wire

There isn't anything wrong with this wiring, it works fine, and the 4 pin side of my trailer plug works fine also. Trucks like mine that have the tow package, have a bundle of wire terminated on the inside of the DS frame that has additional wires for a 7 pin connector, being the orange (aux 12)...

    Tow package - white wire

Correct, and that white is grounded. It is the white wire coming out of the truck harness that is causing the fuse to blow when it is grounded. If I leave it disconnected, no issues.

    Tow package - white wire

I haven't connected the brake controller yet, that's what I meant when I said I've only connected the 4 pin side of the plug so far, and it works fine. I will get around to the remaining wires for the 7 pin side soon

    Tow package - white wire

That's what I figured, but when I connect it to ground it blows the STOP/HAZ fuse when I hit the brake. Weird. I'll do some more testing and report back.

    Tow package - white wire

Could be, but it sure looked factory all nice and tight in the previously unmolested bundle tucked up at the back.

    Tow package - white wire

Hi all, '98 Silverado with factory tow package. Wiring up a 7/4 pin Hopkins receptacle. Very straight forward, uses a T to splice into the factory 4 pin taillight harness, and then separate wires for the +12v, brake controller, reverse lights and ground. The harness coming back on the...

    Hitch install for Dummies

Lucky for me I have a Chevy truck junkyard 20min away. They had about 50 hitches to choose from so I was able to trade them my hitch plus 50 bucks for a nice Reese unit that looks alot better and has the 7 pin plug built I to the frame. Blessing in disguise I suppose. Thanks all for the help

    Hitch install for Dummies

Weird, a couple websites I used listed a c1500 as compatible. Anyway, sure looks like a Tahoe/Yukon part

Ya, I'm thinking this is for a Tahoe/Yukon.

    New guy, '98 C1500

Thanks for the suggestion. I know they look good on a 2/4 drop but was concerned they will look too short on a nearly stock pickup.

    New guy, '98 C1500

Hey all, new guy. Nice original condition Silverado purchased a few months ago. GMT400 has been an awesome resource so far! All stock with the exception of some smoked lights, tinted windows, tonneau cover and a 2" dropped shackle in the rear. I like the stock wheels but I'd like a little wider...

    Hitch install for Dummies

Hi, new member, '98 C1500 5.7/auto. Embarassing first question because I feel like I'm missing something right in front of my face.....bought a second hand factory GM hitch receiver, PN 15724874, supposed to bolt in. Bolts line up on both sides of the frame, however the actual receiver is...
