    Newbie Check-in and Question

Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner! I loosened up the distributor clamp (total PIA) and cranked the distributor CCW until the front screw was close to the upper manifold. Started it up with my Foxwell scanner attached, cleared the code, and waited. No code returned! Thanks again to east302!! Now...

    Newbie Check-in and Question

Thanks for the reply! I agree on 1 degree not being enough to create a code; all the info I've read is that you're good if it's +-2 degrees. I'm thinking that maybe the Torque app isn't as accurate as I need. I had to add the PID manually which included a formula. I triple checked the formula...

    Newbie Check-in and Question

Well, it's been three months to the day that I tore into my Suburban thinking I had a leaking freeze plug. I know I haven't been very diligent about posting in my progress, but with work and cold/rainy weather it's been a slow progress. As of today the engine is 100% back together. I've done the...

    Newbie Check-in and Question

Just starting back on the project. Weather and just a bout of laziness has kept me from doing much of anything. I did get the steer box out this weekend! That was a challenge! I have a question on the heating/cooing actuators. Only one of the three still has a label that's legible. Here is what...

    Newbie Check-in and Question

Thank you! I'm also looking for the two levers. I found this website and hope they have the parts. https://www.wholesalegmpartsonline.com/showAssembly.aspx?ukey_assembly=430918&ukey_product=3073281

    Newbie Check-in and Question

I've been dark for a while, but I'm still plugging away on the Suburban. The new spider is installed, and the upper and lower manifold gaskets replaced and torqued down. I'm almost positive the leak was from the lower manifold and not the freeze plug. Today I completed the removal of the HVAC...

I was thinking about laying down gasket material after cleaning really good, then level it off with a razor blade. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That doesn’t look good. Corrosion by the front coolant ports. Thoughts? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Newbie Check-in and Question

I may be wrong, but I’m pretty sure this manifold has been removed before judging by the sloppy RTV work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New tools!

It’s basically a spring-loaded pipe wrench. I’m thinking it will be good for loosening hoses and tackling big nasty bolts. It got teeth like a pipe wrench but has a smaller profile so it can get into tight places. Home Depot sells them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Newbie Check-in and Question

I set the crank to top dead center, and confirmed it with the rotor, but I didn’t mark the bottom of the distributor so I’ll probably have to redo the timing when put it back. Another thing to learn (sigh). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Newbie Check-in and Question

I’ve got the upper manifold off! Good news! It looks like the coolant was definitely leaking from the back of the lower manifold and not the freeze plug! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Amazon has batteries that fit and are a lot cheaper. I’ve yet to wear out the charge on the “flush” fit smaller batteries. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Newbie Check-in and Question

This is the bolt on the back of the passenger side manifold that holds the bracket that supports the cable bundle and shares mounting with the ignition coil. The mounting not is 5/8ths and the outer nut that secures that bracket and a ground is 15mm. Can’t make this up! Sent from my iPhone...
