    '99 c2500 Burb fun

I put a set of KYB Monomax on an E-150 van my grandparents had. And they rode quite well on that big old thing. I consider those my secondary choice. Avoid the KYB GR-2/Excel-G shocks. Those were far worse than my factory original Bilstein shocks. Edit: spelling

My new project truck: '99 K2500 Suburban

Well, it has been almost three years since I last actually drove her, but I feel like I remember the gauge reading lower, more at the 210 mark, or a tick below. Basically where I'm used to everything reading on these trucks. She doesn't act like she has an air bubble or anything.

So, she fires up and idles really good now, but the temp gauge reads well over 215, maybe over 220 when fully warmed, despite the computer logging between 195 & 204. I had to replace the sending unit on the cylinder head, as when trying to install the driver's side exhaust manifold, I dropped it...

OEM fender flares for 92-99 suburban

I thought the Suburban and Tahoe/Yukon flares were taped on on the rear, with lip screws? I know my '99 K3500 the rear flares bolted through the bed side. Fronts I am sure bolt through the fender no matter what.

    stuff that catches my eye

Those things have a 7500 lb tow rating with standard gears, 8000 lb with the deep gears. They're rated the same as my '02 1500HD with a 6.0 & 3.73s. Source: my Grandad has one of those. It is incredibly bad@$$ for what it is.

Yup! I've had a hard time not grinning this morning since she runs now. She hasn't been registered since January '21. Just a few more systems to square away, and she'll be on the road again.

Turns out, I missed the #7 spark plug when I was plugging in the plug wires. So the tapping/knocking noise I was hearing? Yeah, that was the plug wire trying to ignite the spark plug heat shield. Not the spark plug. :banghead::suicide: So. Got that fixed, and now she fires up and runs. Idles at...

Ok, supposing the weather here holds tomorrow afternoon, I'll be starting to try and diagnose what's going on with Elise. I have an inspection camera from work, so that I can make sure that the cylinders are actually clear. My biggest fear is that I somehow managed to inadvertently drop...

Victory Red is not one of my favorites, but I absolutely love that you love it. This is so cool that you're bringing us along on this process, and letting us see your project become completed reality. Really looking forward to seeing this gorgeous girl get completed!

    I may have an addiction.

Welp, no dice. I swapped so many freaking parts yesterday, all to no avail. Multiple ignition switches, I even swapped the ignition housing on the column. Absolutely no remedy to my problem. I don't know where to go from this point except to get a can of gasoline and some marshmallows. Could it...

    I may have an addiction.

So.... Was watching a video from 1AAuto on doing the ignition switch, and discovered an interesting comment. They literally listed all the issues I've been having intermittently with this truck over the 8 or 9 months that I drove her before she died on me a year ago.

That is a seriously pretty color combo. Emerald Green Metallic and Light Autumnwood Metallic?

The PRNDL lights up and correctly indicates gear positions when I slightly turn the key, but not in the run position.

There is nothing once it moves to the run position or the start position. It acts like a dead neutral safety switch. I completely lose the PRNDL as soon as I turn the key to run. All the other gauges seem to work just fine. But once the PRNDL drops, it won't send power to the starter.

Could it be the ignition switch? Wiring that runs down the column?

Literally everything else works. It just won't start. Battery cables are good, starter cables are good, I just lose the PRNDL when it's in the "run" position. PRNDL fuse is good. Starter relay is good. Has a brand new starter on it.

Still dunno what you're referring to. Is it under the plastic cover for the column?

I am completely baffled by this. Not a clue what you're talking about. :anitoof:
