    Torsion bar upgrade

I did end up buying XG bars, I can't remember the site but likely the one I posted. I might be able to find the receipt if you need. I'm not sure about the yukon/Tahoe ones being shorter never measured because I don't have any. I love the bars I got, the truck is a 1ton k3500 dually, lives with...

    All duramax geeks conversion.

Yea I know Cummins is easier and more done, but around here there more expensive, harder to find and like I said they are done often. When I get a truck and or drive train I'll definitely start a build thread, it might go slow as funds are low especially with covid... But hoping to make this...

    All duramax geeks conversion.

Ok so this may be a longer write up but I would like to get to the bottom of some things hopefully, I have done lots of research but the more I do the less conclusive it becomes... Again sorry for a long write up, I just want to make sure almost everything is thought of and bought/ fabbed up...

    How to wire dual alternators.

Yes I have a Meyers E60 on our 79 suburban, doesn't appreciate the 9'2 plow it's up against, freshly rebuilt and with a new motor it's still a little bit slower and weaker then my old cable op western pump. For some reason my Boss seems to draw the most, even though it didn't before. I'm...

    How to wire dual alternators.

60 amp? The OEM alts put out about 120 amps stock. I do plan to see what my plow draws but I know it's atleast 200amp as thats what boss them selfs say. I didn't have a multi meter with me out at the cottage this weekend, but when my volt gauge on my dash typically reads 14, then when I hooked...

    How to wire dual alternators.

What do you mean by power pack? You mean my plow pump? No I use actual brand names like Western, Fisher, my current plow on this truck is Boss. I use the pumps that come with the plows. Built by western boss fisher etc. Ok so I wired in the second alt this weekend, big wire straight to batt...

4l80e temp gauge through OBD scanner?

This truck gets more trans fluid changes then oil... I know who the hell is that dumb... But I haven't changed engine oil in almost 2yrs, almost 30k kms. Just top it up here and there haha. The trans gets new oil/filter with a flush once a year, usually just before plow season.

4l80e temp gauge through OBD scanner?

I hate in-line gauges, everyone I have done, or seen always leaks to some degree, or leaks at some point. I also hate them because no matter where I find they always end up corroded and rotting off within a year or two, or have issues. I also find that they don't read as accurate as the oil has...

    How to wire dual alternators.

Yea it is, the only time I have seen a winch used is either home-made setups or small cheap, home grade plows such as snow bears etc, they also don't have power angle. I would never run them commercially.

    Torsion keys will they fit

I can't remember, i just know i put the arrow in the direction that the LCA rotates, I can't remember if it was at the front or back, I tried putting one in the opposite direction and it was even harder, I do remember that.

4l80e temp gauge through OBD scanner?

Even if it's "static" it's still inside the "hot" trans, getting heat soaked from the surrounding metal and fluid around it, so wouldn't it still be about the same temp? Atleast within a few degrees. If it's to test pressure would there not be atleast some fluid flow? I mean I'm no expert by any...

    Torsion keys will they fit

No I checked that a couple of times haha, mine actually came with a sticker that said "front" and the rotation was stamped on the other end with a arrow, so figure out which way the LCA is rotating them to figure out which side is which. Pretty fool proof.

    How to wire dual alternators.

The plows are all the same, electric over hydraulic, electric motor spins the hydraulic pump

    How to wire dual alternators.

I know plowing will always be hard on electrical systems, especially when you're running over 1800 watts of stereo..(At max), the plow, all those marker lights that GM never really did properly to begin with and always had big power draws. The heater they were also meek on, along with that heavy...

    Torsion keys will they fit

I know I'm way late, I got distracted changing the bars and other parts and totally forgot all about this untill I got searching through old posts, my bad, I'll just update incase anybody comes across this. Yes in the middle is where I took those measurements, I have never measured 1500 bars so...

4l80e temp gauge through OBD scanner?

Doing some more research alot of guys say they put a sending unit in the pressure test port above the PRDNL switch, anybody have any experience with this? Some say it wont get an accurate reading, some say it may do some witch craft, most say it works fine, alot of them just say to be careful...

4l80e temp gauge through OBD scanner?

I'm not sure what tool the guy I go to uses, but I have a Innova 3100 or something like that which I use for OBD2, not the most expensive but also not the cheapest and gets the job done. Whatever he has he can plug into my OBD1 port and tell me most things just like OBD2, I brought him the...

4l80e temp gauge through OBD scanner?

I have a 1993 k3500 with a 4l80E, I'm looking to install a temp gauge, I know the best place is in the pan but I don't want to drop that right now as I just had a flush and it's a real pain to drop mine. I would also rather not deal with one in the cooler lines as I can never get those to work...

    How to wire dual alternators.

Sorry for not replying I was out of town then got busy. The plow I use most on this truck is a Boss, it's it's 200amp motor Idk what the tag says but I know the motor is 200 I had to replace it 2 winters ago. The sander is a Fisher polycaster. Also electric motor, actually its a newer dual...

    How to wire dual alternators.

I'm not sure which part number it is, just know they are oem, other then the one I'm putting In I just get them from scrap yards most times and get them freshened up, cheaper that way. I think you're thinking of the 96+ ones? When they switched to OBDII, those had multiple wires for the plug...

    How to wire dual alternators.

The batteries are already hooked together, so I'll keep it that way. I just want one alternator to read one battery and the other alternator to read the other battery, that way one battery isn't charging off another battery, makes it stay at proper voltage better and quicker. I'll be running the...

    Help with ball-joints.

Haha dont feel bad you're not the only one. I have tons of personal projects, bunch of stuff that needs repair or improving for the business, seems I never have time for it all, or that it gets "good enough let's go for now". Or I just dread the job cause I know what's involved so I quickly...

    How to wire dual alternators.

I have a 93 k3500 that I'm putting dual alternators in. Now for the guys who are going to ask "why? Just get a big single" I have tried, I tried OEM, juiced up aftermarket, and had some built over the years. I just find when they get hot they have a hard time keeping up, then eventually burn...

    Help with ball-joints.

No didn't think it was new to GMT400, and yea I know they originally came rivited, mine were when I got the truck, I have also done some for other people it is a pita at first... But then easier I find. Now I have to not only split the ball joint but disconnect the axle on both ends, then press...
