    Lift kit brand Q's

You wouldn't need a lift kit for that. It will take time/money to refresh your bushings/arms/steering box, tie rods and that could easily exceed the price of the lift kit. Refresh + high quality shocks will probably achieve what you're asking for. FYI, the reason why most people don't like the...

    BD Fog Lights

Thought I'd share. I've seen people hunting for the OEM lights that fit in these bumpers, but haven't seen many upgrade to modern lighting. While I do love the look of the vintage halogen lights, nothing matches the output of modern LED's. The outermost will be used for fog, while the inners for...

Towing helper air bags and travel

the attachment point for most of the WD hitches I've seen don't come close to being able to mount to the Uhaul trailer. There's at least 2-3 feet of straight section where the braking mechanism rests before it splits into the A-frame area. I rent the trailer about 6-10 times a year. I don't...

Towing helper air bags and travel

Unfortunately I can't use a hitch like that. I transport a track car and have to rent uhaul trailers which don't seem to have the dimensions to use such hitches.

Towing helper air bags and travel

RichLo, totally understand your point. I think I wasn't clear on what I was asking; I currently have an add a leaf so my height is currently fine for the lift I have. The air bags are meant to help when I'm towing a car. I do however take my Tahoe camping and offroading now and then, and wanted...

Towing helper air bags and travel

Hi guys, hoped you'd be able to help. Have a lifted 97 RWD Tahoe that I've been using as my track day hauler. I've been using an add a leaf but have since installed lift spindles for the front as well. The add a leaf no longer keeps the vehicle from being slightly nose up when towing. I don't...

Raised spindle caused loss of brakes

In my application, the brake caliper bracket comes into contact with the lower control arm in a non-damaging manner. It would technically "wear" out the contact point eventually, but by that time the bushings would be dead on the lower control arm and its time to replace anyways.

Popping noise when turning or braking 1998 c1500

I ran into something similar....if your problem is the same as mine, re-torque the lower control arm bolts to the chassis. The factory spec is something like 120-140 lb/ft of torque, which is hard to do without a lift. Anyhow, make sure the vehicle is at ride height and then torque, since the...

Raised spindle caused loss of brakes

Had the exact same issue with my Fabtech spindle for RWD tahoe. I didn't have the instructions that came with it, but found them online after the fact. They do in fact tell you to remove the steering stop by drilling out the two rivets. You can do what you did too. Apparently this is "normal"...

    Fox 2.0 Resi on OBS

Just wanted to update this. I have all four shocks on now. I had to modify the rears by having 90 degree fittings and custom lines installed. The driver's side reservoir can mount to the shock body, but to avoid the heat from the exhaust I mounted the reservoir to the chassis on the passenger...

    2wd lift and axle length

I have a rear add a leaf and a 1.5" block. I think its a total of about 3", 4" max. I think they were just telling me as a safety precaution because they HAVE to tell me for liability reasons. I took a look myself though and like both of you mentioned, there seems to be plenty of meat left on...

    2wd lift and axle length

Hey all...need your input. I just had a re-gear done on my 97 tahoe, and the shop ( just so happens to be a driveshaft shop) is wanting me to be aware that the driveshaft needs a certain amount of bite onto the spines of the trans, and that I'm outside of that spec. Makes sense, since the rear...

    GMC or Chevy Grille?

Favor if someone has time....what is the distance from the top of the bumper to the bottom of the turn signal on the GMC grille? Want to install some 4" lights, don't want them to interfere too much with the turn signals.

    Fox 2.0 Resi on OBS

They ride a little stiffer than the Bilstein 5100, but then again this was only in a parking lot with speed bumps. I'd have to take them on a trail to know for sure, and likely put some speed into it. Also, I'm thinking of taking the shocks to get a 90 degree fitting installed with a shorter hose.

    Fox 2.0 Resi on OBS

Since the chassis is old, not too many companies are making "new" parts for it. I figured I'd try something I hadn't seen before.

    Fox 2.0 Resi on OBS

Just wanted to share something I've been working on. I really like the Bilstein 5100's I had put on my Tahoe about a year ago. They feel really great on the street. After hitting some trails and rocky areas though, I found them to be a bit on the rough side (as I've seen a lot of you also have...

    What shocks do I buy?

For a stock application, 4600 are THE best bolt on shock that are available. I've tried GR2, monroe, and other vehicles have tried various other cheaper brands and they're honestly all garbage. Ask your self why the Bilstein shock is more than the others, and its because they're a lot better...
