Carb swapped ‘97 vortec - SUCCESS!!!

I’m not entirely sure how mine ended up the way it is now, but if it becomes too big a pain in the rear as it is then I’ll re-clock it. But for now it works well enough, I’ll put the hassle off for later.

Carb swapped ‘97 vortec - SUCCESS!!!

Thank you! I’m having to unhack the hackery that the engine builder and my highschool self performed. Fun times lol

Carb swapped ‘97 vortec - SUCCESS!!!

So after seeing pictures of other people with a carb swap I’m wondering if something is off with my truck based on which way my distributor is facing. The truck runs alright (still learning carb tuning) and I have it set at 17 degrees initial advance without the vacuum advance hooked up. But my...

    Is it wrong...

This. The only big thing I’ve bought from them was my new dash and associated hardware/paint supplies….which was enough for them to send me a Christmas card I guess lol

Was there a limited slip rear axle for a 98 c1500 5 bolt?

I’ve seen a pro charged 454 chevelle making close to 1,000hp with nothing but a mini spool in the stock rear end (highway gears too) make multiple passes on the strip and hold up just fine.

    Water in cab of truck

I had something similar and I could not figure out where it was coming from and it drove me up the wall lol. It ended up being the seam sealer on the cowl right next to the hood hinge on the passenger side was dried out and cracking. I’ll try and post a picture later today.

    Part Quality Question

One of them I’ve had in maybe a year, the other has been in since April. No complaints even with the crap I’ve put that car through lol.

    Part Quality Question

I have CV shafts from them on my Subaru and they seem to be holding up just fine. I’d be wary with cheap suspension parts though and don’t be surprised if they don’t last very long.

Maybe you could post some pictures of your setup, that might help some wise dudes on here diagnose the issue.

You bet! It’s an odd problem you’re having and I wish I could be more help. I literally just spliced the wires like the instructions said, watched YouTube videos and prayed and it all has been working for 4 years now. Maybe I got lucky lol.

    2002 Silverado Question

Cylinder deactivation wasn’t until 2007. 2002 is a great year imo. My family owns an 05 suburban and an 02 silverado and they’re both fantastic.

That’s interesting. Does the computer have a tach signal from the distributor? It’s a purple/white wire that will need to go to the “tach” port on the distributor. From what I remember, all the tranny needs is the tach and TPS signals to operate properly. Are you sure the transmission isn’t...

    94 c1500 build

Thanks! LMC started selling the dashes a year or two ago, mine fit nicely with some finagling and a few cuss words. Definitely worth it.

    94 c1500 build

Today some boxes showed up. The front suspension is getting a new lease on life. I ordered the Mevotec Terrain Tough kit from Rockauto since that’s what everyone seems to have the least amount of problems with. I also received the knockout tool from Amazon, hopefully I can make quick and easy...

    94 c1500 build

The brake pedal has been the typical kind of mushy for a 30 year old pickup, so to remedy this I installed stainless steel braided brake hoses and flushed the almost black fluid out. The pedal feel is amazing and the truck stops way better, even with the puny JB5 brakes on the rear. The rear...

Yes. My harness is just folded to the side aside from sensors for the gauges. All I did was wire the TPS in and drive it.

I have this same swap done on my truck and I used a kit from US Shift. It hasn’t given me any issues and was super easy to install. https://www.usshift.com/tps.shtml

Carpet next. I went through a company called Stock Interiors and I’m very pleased with their product. I ordered it with their “massbacking” option which is the same as the stock carpet has on the back of it. This has far less jute included but that hasn’t seemed to be an issue thus far. It took...

    94 c1500 build

Next was the kilmat. This was a lot harder than I thought it would be and it turned out looking terrible next to other people’s work I’ve seen, but the new carpet covers it up so it’s perfect. Again, I didn’t remember to take a picture of it when I finished. Onto the dash. Thanks to LMC...

Next to get yanked was what was left of the original dash. Then the floor was removed of its corroded spots I did paint over the primer with black but I guess I didn’t take a picture.

    94 c1500 build

Well… it’s been awhile, but it’s time to rekindle this build thread. For awhile I lost interest in the truck and it sat for several months, but now the wait is over. First task to tackle: the interior. The plan was to just do a new dash and some kilmat. But after I yanked the old stuff out I...

    1993 K1500 Replacing Carpet Questions

I just did this on my ‘94 model. I ordered samples and picked my color that way. I used Stockinterior.com and they did a good job, I’m pleased with their product and pricing. I opted to add massbacking on mine for $60 extra and with shipping and tax it still came out just under $300.
