    need for grounds?, help please

A shop tech isn't a CNA working 60-70 hours a week while trying to fix their vehicle in their free time. Today I picked up a new alternator (like I said before). I pretty much did a version of painless wiring's 30707 kit, I tested with a multi meter and I'm reading 13.9v, but I'm using an old...

    need for grounds?, help please

On the connector there is only one wire (brown) from factory. This truck is as basic as you can get. No tach or anything, it started it's life as a 4x4, 5.0 5 speed, vinyl floor, bench seat, crank windows and am/fm radio only WV park service truck. The previous owner swapped in a 5.7. I am going...

replaced bulb and even went as far as putting another cluster (out of a buddy's truck) in to see if anything changed and it didn't, still no charge.

    need for grounds?, help please

The 17.9v was what the alternator was putting out when tested at advance auto, not bench test, it was the one where they put the lead around the red wire to the battery. The three alternators were charging 0v, there was no exciting of the alternator. That's what lead to the aftermarket self...

    need for grounds?, help please

I only found one off the harness and it attaches at the thermostat housing with a nut. I looked towards the back near the distributor and didn't see any. My truck isn't factory at all, so if you find grounds back there from the harness is there any way that you could post a pic?

    need for grounds?, help please

I'm going to install a voltage gauge, I don't trust the cluster. Same goes for temp and oil pressure.

    need for grounds?, help please

Yep, I've redone all the grounds except the one from firewall to passenger head. The idle is better, but the voltage is still 17v. From what I've found yours is exactly how they are supposed to be.

    need for grounds?, help please

Let's hope so, the guy replaced rings, main bearings, cam and valve seals. Then once he got the engine in the truck he couldn't get it to charge. I'll be happy as hell if everything gets lined out. I'll report back for sure.

    need for grounds?, help please

Thanks this is what I needed, none of these grounds are there. The person that had the truck before me replaced the engine and didn't hook anything back up it seems.

    need for grounds?, help please

The self exciting regulator was supposed to be set at 14.7v, it's been running the high voltage for 2 months. I don't know if the cluster is even right. I need to put in an actual gauge. That brown exciter wire that didn't work I could not figure out and neither could the guy that had the truck...

    need for grounds?, help please

I had an issue with the brown exciter wire that runs from the cluster and had no charge, so I installed an self exciting voltage regulator after trying three new alternators. The only wire is coming from the battery, which is why I'm wondering about the ground. Amps I'm not too sure on as I only...

    need for grounds?, help please

1994 K1500 350 tbi nv3500 During the process of changing my clutch I noticed that a ground strap is broken, but looks like it comes out of the harness. I've never seen a ground strap coming out of a harness and was wondering the repercussions of not having one. I've looked everywhere on the...
