    Plus Sized Grandpa

Was very happy to read this write up on the steering wheel as I agree that the factory wheels in these trucks are large and rather unappealing. And while I loved everything about what you did... there was something I just couldn’t put my finger on about the Malibu wheel and why I wasn’t in love...

    The Stupid Axle Questions Thread

Forgive me if this has been asked before... I made it to post 24 of 660ish before I just decided to ask. I’m about to install a Truetrac in a JY SF 14 bolt. Once I open it up I’ll know more about the condition of the rear gears but what I was wondering is opinions on whether I should buy all...

    The Stupid Lowered Questions Thread

Springs are pretty straight forward. As long as you seated it correctly, there’s not much that can go wrong. When I swapped springs on my 98 to drop springs it took a day or two to settle and get the squeaks out. On my 94 when I pulled the factory springs and cut them, there was no settling...

    Blasphemy, add a catalytic converter??????

FWIW, I have a bone stock (engine) 98 Vortec 350 with true dual exhaust and twin cats... and it smells rich too when compared to my stock 2013 6.0. I can imagine without the cats it would smell very rich especially on startup when your dumping more fuel than normal operation. Sent from my...

    Alternator plug

I’m not sure where your getting your AD244 but I didn’t find one cheaper or even close when I was looking. I picked up my brand new direct replacement AC Delco CS144 for $110 plus an $8 plug. So upgraded with brand new parts for $118 all in... That’s why I messed around with the CS144. Sent...

    Alternator plug

Ok... so my 98 C1500 had a CS130D and I decided to upgrade to a CS144. The CS144 uses the same bolt pattern but it has the square pigtail vs the oval pigtail on the CS130D. Both utilize the “L” pin to monitor voltage output. For the one wire applications such as mine, that’s the only pin you...

    Alternator plug

The difference is all in the price. The AC Delco unit I have is only about a 140 amp alt... but also only $110 vs the 220 amp AD244 that Summit wants $350 for. I’ll check the junk yard later this week. That’s never my first thought but it tends to always be a good one. Thanks! Sent from my...

    Alternator plug

I just bought a high amp alternator for my 98 GMC C1500 and noticed it has a square plug. My current alternator has an oval plug and 1 wire. I’m only seeing square plugs with 4 wires when searching. Is there a square plug with one wire or am I wasting my time? Any info is greatly appreciated...

Also- if you have a bolt in notch... you’ll be bottoming out with any load in they bed if you go lower than 1” additional. Even with the additional 1”... your not going to be able to haul much before sitting on the axel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

New guy, just want to see some static drops

I had a similar issue and it ended up that the previous owner had put a 2” drop shackle on the truck which caused my 6” drop to be an 8” drop. Once I figured that out, I put a factory shackle back on it and was to my liking. Before: After: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Do you have 2” drop hangers on it? Trying to figure out why you put a lift shackle on. The flip is only good for 6”. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Looks sharp. I’ve got a set of 22s I might throw on at some point. What brand spindles did you use? I’m guessing the 285 wouldn’t work up front due to rubbing? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

New guy, just want to see some static drops

In case anyone is wondering... this is what 1000lbs of concrete will do to a 4/6. Lol Just one of the many reasons I’ll never go any lower in the rear or have a smaller diameter tire. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

New guy, just want to see some static drops

Based on your valence height from the ground and your tire size... I’d guess you were running 5” up front. If it’s still the factory lower control arm, it’s most likely a 2” spindle and 3” from the springs. For the rear... the flip alone is 6” so with the additional 3” you added, it’s probably...

New guy, just want to see some static drops

The new setup is 245/50/r20 square vs the 235/70/r15 current setup. Overall measurements put the 20” setup at .7” taller total and .3” wider total. The wheels are 8.5” wide. Fenders are already rolled up front. I have some concern up front which is the reason I’m switching from Belltech to DJM...

New guy, just want to see some static drops

Yeah I found a good deal for these- $250 for the wheels. They aren’t my first choice... or probably my 2nd, 3rd, or 4th either, but they look better than I expected and they are factory GM wheels. I probably over paid for tires yesterday so I’ve got just about $530 total in the combo. Most of...
