    350 TBI overheating

I tried 2 rad caps but I did not check the overflow line for blockages yet. I would say it went flat for about 10 seconds and then went back to normal as it was cooling down idling. The cooling system was under pressure 2 days later when I removed the temp sender to install the mechanical gauge...

    350 TBI overheating

I did a compression test today. Dry cylinders were 150 exactly on every cylinder except number 8 was about 125-130. it overheats under 3,000rpm in lark after about a minute. Then if it idles it will start cooling down again and when it does it will suck the upper rad hose flat for a bit...

    350 TBI overheating

Ya the pressure thing has me stumped. I agree it seems like a combustion pressure is getting in, but not getting out. I’m going to verify the temperature with an aftermarket gauge first to make sure it’s not a sender/gauge problem. Then I will probably replace the water pump and have the rad...

    350 TBI overheating

I have a 94 5.7 that is overheating when accelerating moderately hard, or under a load etc. Heats almost instantly. It cools down back to normal almost as soon as I pull over and open the hood. Gauge goes up very quickly. I replaced the thermostat with no luck. After I parked the truck and it...

    4l60 torque converter lockup kit

The cooler I have is a fairly large one that a previous owner installed. I do have a gauge and was hitting 215 degree pan temperatures for long periods of time. If i was able to keep it locked it would stay around 175.

    4l60 torque converter lockup kit

Ya you are right about the fuel economy thing and I always did tow in 3rd but when the converter stays unlocked I was just building way too much heat in a short amount of time. When it is locked it stays nice and cool.

    4l60 torque converter lockup kit

Ok thanks, I did it and it seems to work fine. I didn't think the old tbi would be overly hard on the converter clutch just because it is a fairly gutless engine?

    4l60 torque converter lockup kit

I was wondering if a lockup kit is a good thing to have for towing. I have a 92 k1500 that I tow a camper with that weighs nearly 6,000lbs. I can't keep the torque converter locked on the highway most of time. Any slight wind or incline it unlocks. I also have a trans temp gauge with the sender...

    700r4 or 4l60e?

Excellent info, that's exactly what I was looking for, thanks. It seems to work great and although I tow with it I just leave it in 3rd gear. I also put a trans gauge in to make sure it doesn't get too hot. Hope it lasts for a while!

    700r4 or 4l60e?

I have a 92 Sierra 1500 5.7 4x4 and was just wondering if some 92's had 700's and some had 4l60e? I did change the trans fluid and filter and noticed it had shift solenoids and wiring so I assumed it was a 4l60e? Anybody know for sure? Thanks. I would also like to add a torque converter lockup...

    Door panel pulls away

Anybody know an easy fix or what pieces I need to replace to fix my door panel? When I pull the door shut from inside the cab by the arm rest, it is loose and pulls away from the door quite a bit. This is on a 92, thanks.

    How many bed bolts?

Thanks guys, it is 8 and unfortunately the hitch does have to be removed because it is bolted in the way directly under the bed bolt... I was able to make it to my truck today to have a look.

    How many bed bolts?

Anybody know how many bed bolts there is on a 92 short box? Will I have to remove the receiver hitch to get at some bolts or can I work around it? Thanks.

    1992 gmc axle codes

Hello, just picked up a good 92 gmc 1500 4x4 with a 14 bolt g80 rear. The other axle code is gq1 which from what I found is the "standard gear ratio". So my question is what is the standard gear ratio. Thanks!
