Hmm. I thought the advance should be between 30-36 degrees at 3000 rpm. It's not climbing nearly that high. That's why I thought there was an issue with the advance.
Thank you, I have already changed the ignition module and the pickup stator in the distributor hoping to fix the problem. I will look at the knock sensor and wiring harness next. I guess it's unlikely it's still the distributor at this point.

I have a 95 k1500 5.7 4l60e. I recently installed a new Davis unified distributor. The advance doesn't seem to be working properly. I disconnected the advance wire and set the base timing to 0 degrees. Once the advance wire is reconnected at idle it's at about 24 degrees of advance...
