I thought I had ask this same question somewhere before and just realized it was here. This project is consistently shuffled to the rear of the pack. It has come to the front because I have to switch out the torque converter. I found out I had big time slop in the rear end - it is getting...
Thanks - the 71 has front discs - I'm pretty sure it is called a big hub Dana 44 and the 89 Sub V2500 also has Discs. ( Rear end on the 71 is a 14 bolt but I'm pretty sure it is "Not" a floating axle - probably a simi floating axle. It has caps in the center of the wheels so I can't see it...
OK here's one. I have a 1971 K20 4x4 with what I believe has a Corporate 14 bolt simi float diff that has some real drive line slop issues. I have access to a 1989 Chevy Suburan V 2500 4x4 with a good rear end that I believe is also a 14 Bolt. Any one know if the mounting points -...
I have a real character flaw. I can't go look at these things when it is during the daytime I have to do it at night when I have to use a flash light and it is cold! I verified the front is an open knuckle on both of the rigs. Front is definitely a "Big Hub". Both mount on top of the...
Thanks - helps a lot. Just to clarify in my mind. If I use the 89 axles I may need to find adapters to fit the metric Sub to SAE 71 connections or make some new brake lines with SAE on one end and metric on the other. If I use the existing 71 calipers on the front 89 rotors if they will...
I have a 1971 Chevy K20 4x4. Right now it has what I think is a Dana "Old" style 44 on the front. It has the big long hubs on the front. Pretty sure they were not original to the truck and I am not real sure at least the cab isn't a k20. Pretty sure the rear is a Corp 10 inch (?) in the...
How do you know what the chemical make up of power steering is compared to Gasoline? You may be right but you also may just be assuming an awful lot. I see you live in the Seasonally Frozen Wastelands. I actually live in the Seasonally Heated wastelands - Northern Arizona - 70 mile round trip...
Anyone using power steering pump filters on GM Saganaw style pumps?? If so any specific brand & is there any volume/pressure issues??? I've looked at several and they basically just look like inline gas filters - anyone every try using a basic Fram type inline gas filter??? Did it work or...
Thanks. Hopefully I won't need to pull the tank but you are probably right it's easier to pull the water tank & pump off and then pull the bed to get to the top of the tank!:) I'm getting too old to crawl under and fight the tank and much easier to bed over and fiddle with it!
