    Figuring out Tahoe 2door suspension...

My hope is to really go through the whole truck in 4-5 years after we finish paying off debts. Then I'll do a real lift as well. For now I'm just trying to decide if it looks silly with the rake like this, or leave it to keep the front optimal.

Well, I guess I'm doing both. I already have the Bilstein 5100's installed on the rear. I also swapped out the 2.5"blocks in the back and put in 1.5" blocks. Here's a shot with the above done, uncranked six turns on the adjustment bolts. This gives me a Z height on the front of 6.5" (Stock...

    Figuring out Tahoe 2door suspension...

Just got off the phone with Bilstein Tech. They say that If I leave the TB's cranked and top out the shock, it wasn't designed for that. And if I go with a longer shock I may allow the suspension to go all the way down, but that may cause the damage to CV joints as they will be over extended...

    Figuring out Tahoe 2door suspension...

So here is what I've found Crustyjunker... -Shock / Compressed Length / Extended Length -Originals / 11-3/4" / 16-1/2" -4600's / 11-3/4" / 16-1/2" -RS 7152 / 12.14" / 18.11" It would seem your Rancho 7000's are ideal length. Measuring mounting point to mounting point on my 98 tahoe, I get...

Thanks for the heads up on the ranchos. What truck are you running those on?

    Figuring out Tahoe 2door suspension...

For downward travel, what should be the limiting factor? Metal on metal stop, or the shock? I would think neither is a great idea, but maybe it's supposed to be the shock? I would think the shocks wouldn't last long that way though. I jacked up the frame till the upper control arm hit the...

    Figuring out Tahoe 2door suspension...

So here is my issue now. I installed the rear 5100's, no problem. Got the old shocks out of the front. I took the Bilstein 4600 for my front and put in the top bolt. When I went below to hook up the bottom I found that the shock was fully extended, and only needed to come up maybe a 1/2 inch to...

Vinyl Graphic Concept for my 98 Tahoe

Thanks for the input. True, my opinion on this one trumps others. I always like to hear other opinions before investing time and $$ though. It rarely stops me, but helps to refine.

Vinyl Graphic Concept for my 98 Tahoe

This is concept photo for my Tahoe I've made into my project truck. It's the actual truck, I just Photoshoped on the stripes to see what it might look like. Curious what others' thoughts are...

No rear sway bar in mine either. I wish I went with 285's, but I just put these 265/75-16's on. Next time... I would like to do a full frame off restoration in about 5 years, but in the meantime it will stay as is. Kind of Happy to know the 2 doors had a stiff spring rate. I don't know if mine...

    Figuring out Tahoe 2door suspension...

Thanks Crustyjunker! I've read good things about 4600 & 5100's. The issue is I've read that I need to use the 4600 because I have a stock front end, only TB cranked. Some have said that because of TB cranked up I need to use a 5100. Looking to hear if some one is using one or the other with the...

    Figuring out Tahoe 2door suspension...

Looking around the internet and here, I find pics of front ends that look like they have worse angles than my CV shafts. What I really want to should I leave these alone or lower it some? And either way should I go with the Bilstein 4600 or 5100 shock?

Good to know you had correct angles with 1.5 blocks. I want some rake so I assume if I used those blocks or 2" I would think I would be good. For a frame of reference, can you tell from the pics I posted if the angles on my front end look severe or acceptable?

Any thoughts on my rake or suspension angles?
