I'm sorry I don't know which heads. I bought them used when a shop told me I had a bad head and needed to replace them. I believe I was told they are 604 heads. I wound up not using that mechanic, but a very trusted friend who determined I just had a bad head gasket between two cylenders, my...- moondog1

Sorry to bump an old thread but are a lot of people doing this? I'm planning for a motor swap, with a carb likely, and curious to know if certain carbs are better for this application of having the factory computer shift the trans still. Thanks.- moondog1

Sorry I haven't replied! So turns out: 1) upper and lower ball joints were shot 2) bearings probably shot, someone tried to cut a rotor off bc one of the bearings was so froze 3) I just decided if I was going to take it apart I'm gonna try to do it once. Hey everyone! Well I bought another burb. Got a 99 with too many miles, 200k, k2500, 4x4, 5.7, I'm struggling for trying to describe how it handles and steers. I bought them used for $500 from the mechanic who said I had a burned up valve. It was just a head gasket let go between cylinders 4 and 6. He assured me they would fit exactly, turns out they did not! But he's a nice guy. Also had to leave one bolt out of the compressor mount on the front...- moondog1

Update! We are back up and running! Lots of new parts! So I put the aluminum heads on, which do not fit the TBI intake correctly. The center 4 bolts that connect the TBI intake to the heads are different on the aluminum heads, it's the angle. Had to machine the holes to a different angle and...- moondog1

he said when he rotated the motor over slowly he could see that the pushrod seemed to be moving correctly, so hopefully not a flattened cam lobe? He also said he looked inside the motor and didn't see any real damage or anything to the top of the piston? What causes a burnt valve? Any info...- moondog1
