Yea i see what you guys are saying, it does just seem like its due to the coolant being heated after shutting down, however it happens as soon as i shut the engine off so i dont know. A coolant flush obviously couldn’t hurt so ill plan on that, been so busy working ill try and test the coolant...
Oil is always clean, no water whatsoever. No smoke out of tailpipe. The 185 is from reading the coolant temp sensor. Quite a lot of bubbles. Like maybe 10 bubbles then stops for a second, then starts again in a cycle for a minute or so. It only does it when the engine shuts off. It really seems...
It runs at about 185-190 and holds very well. I dont honestly know if the water jackets been flushed but i highly doubt it. Ive replaced the water pump, thermostat and hoses so it has mostly new fluid. Id have to check the protection of the coolant
Haha yea it is hard to diagnose on a forum. Probably is a headgasket failing, guess ill just get to that when it totally fails. It has a new cat, and a new temp sensor. I might be chasing a couple different issues that i think are related which i know better than to do. This truck is great but...
I have a 1997 c1500 5.0 vortec and after running the truck and shutting it down i get bubbles in the reservoir from the overflow hose from the rad. It only happens when the truck shuts down, and i dont actually lose any fluid. Its almost like a quarter of a quart just pushes back out of he...
I have a 97 c1500 5.0 vortec it has weak acceleration, poor idle, and horrible mpg. Ive replaced a lot on this engine including all ignition except for the distrutor, and upgraded the injectors to mfi. Still feels the same. Once in a while it will feel better like it has good power again, but...
Ok thanks everyone, it seems perfect to me thats why i was so freaked out. Yea so the map sensor doesnt read actual intake man pressure so ill test it with a vacuum tester and report back. I took off a couple vacuum lines and it sucks harder than a 2$ ****** lol so i think im good and the engine...
So i have a 97 305 vortec that I replaced spider injectors on and i never bothered to check the intake manifold pressure prior to install. So after i checked it with one of those fixd scanners and map is reading 4psi at idle which from my experience is way too low. Replaced map and nothing...
Jesus who knew some guys could get so heated over motor oil lmao, anyway thanks for the input everyone! Odds are since i change my oil so frequently it reallt doesnt matter just wanted to hear what yall had to say. I think i am gunna stick to valvoline with the maxlife high mileage **** bc they...
Also im torn between amsoil and valvoline, honestly i dont really care how long i can go on a synthetic i just want an oil that will lubricate the engine the best with minimal breakdown. From the chart it still definitely looks like amsoil is better but idk valvoline seems like a great choice too
Yea im just gunna stick with the 1030, the manual says you can use it so ill just do that. Im not positive whats making the ticking, i thought it was lifters but my gut is telling me that the manifold has a crack somewhere which is causing the tick. I replaced my cat and i heard it after that so...
Awesome thanks so much everyone!!!
yea alpinecrick odds are it probably was already replaced so I probably should just leave it alone because i might break more stuff then its worth
so my 5.0 is great and all and i know theyre pretty comparable reliability wise with the 350, does anyone know...
