What did you do to your street truck today?

Painted door latch trim, and a bunch of tan dash replacement parts. I forgot to bring a part to match to the paint store so I went with the standard SEM formula for the 27l code. Seems to match fairly good. Swapped out the one year only ash tray to one from 98 parts truck. I like the later style...

What did you do to your street truck today?

Did remote filters and stainless cooler lines for oil and trans. Removed the beloved 4x4 filter adapter and used a standard SBC filter adapter to the block and a spin-on bypass. After much debate with the tech lines for Jeg’s, Derale, and wix decided to use the Jeg’s $31 -8AN pre made lines for...

What did you do to your street truck today?

The getto fab repair on the rear lines failed so I dropped $350 for rubber lines and an expansion valve tube. While waiting on ac lines I messed with trans and engine oil temp and pressure guages. No flat spot on dash so maybe ashtray mount???

What did you do to your street truck today?

Drilled and tapped the heater fitting and added repair fitting to rear evaporator on the 95 burb I'm redoing. Heater fitting was the third one I've done so it was not bad. The Evap repair had me pulling out my hair looking for fittings I'm Using Dorman compression fitting and Dorman 800-9961...

99 Interior to 93 Swap - Manual to Power, No tac to tac, etc

This has me leaning towards an interior swap vs body swap on my 93 K250 Burb. The bulkhead connector on the 95 1500 donor is different as is the ECU connectors and 4L60 to 80 connectors also so rewiring is going to have to be done either way. Add in the unknowns of the evaps and heater cores and...

    North Fl. n00b

This suburban thing is getting out of hand or I should say becoming a sickness. The 5.7 in my 93 runs strong enough I decided not to do the 6BT swap on her and did a timing chain and water pump while leaky radiator was out. My son then scored a run and drive 94 GMC k2500 5.7 for the 6BT swap...

Navistar NA 6.5 swap in 96 6.5 td

After messing with 3 compression gauges/ adapters I finally confirmed Shady screwed the original 6.5 up and sent wire transfer for the GEP engine. Probably looking at 5 weeks before it gets shipped.

Navistar NA 6.5 swap in 96 6.5 td

Leroy shows a DS4. Decided gear-dive is a bad idea. The chain buffers engine harmonics. HMMWV pick-up is different, not sure on the HI flow; your are probably right.

Navistar NA 6.5 swap in 96 6.5 td

Yes you are right. That’s what I meant about studding the block. The improved GEP block does’t benefit from main girdle studs. Used head bolt stretch might be part of the problem Shadetree reused the old bolts.

Navistar NA 6.5 swap in 96 6.5 td

Would like some input on this swap. 116k mile 6.5 TD in a 96 GMC 2500 Suburban vin S was hamfisted doing lifter change by PO’s shade tree and was never finished. I bought it as a basket. Somehow shadetree changed lifters without pulling drivers exhaust manifold and crossover pipe because the...

    Low range without 4wd

Here is the 5pin connector pin out. Without the parts in hand and trying it, only going off the 98 diagram and macanic21's video I'm thinking: C goes to 20 amp switched ign. fuse brown wire circuit #241 according to the 98 diagram. The 95 shows the fuse as 25 amp # 24 circuit #241 E is ground...

    Low range without 4wd

I ordered an actuator and a pig tail to replace the thermal one on my 94. Plan is to use a dash mounted switch. You guys that replaced the thermal actuator how thick was the puck. I read the Dorman kit's puck is 3/4" that seems big. CarQuest PTA 1371 looks to be the pigtail plug to roll your own...

CarQuest PTA 1371 looks to be the pigtail plug to roll your own. Still researching options.
