Nevermind did my own research and found my answers. So I'm going to check my lifters this weekend and if they are good I'm going to check timing chain and gears.

Is there a thread anywhere about swapping a 350 instead of my 305? Would i just need the computer for the 350?

Yea i was suprised when i saw how cheap it was. I already got a lot of time trying to trouble shoot this problem and thus engine has almost 200,000 miles, i suppose its time to replace the cam and lifters

Any other ideas? Otherwise i guess ill start tearing it down to replace the timing gears and chain, camshaft and lifters. Oreilly has all that for $150

Yes I'm confident i got that right. I had the wife crank the engine until the compression in #1 blew my finger off then i fine tuned it with my socket wrench to turn the timing mark to 0 then i put the distributor in having the rotor point to the #1 spark plug wire.

Ok ill try that tomorrow, i only did a 1/4 turn this last time when i adjusted them and they still make noise.

When i first got the new distributor on and with the wire unhooked, it idled by itself around probably 30 degrees, it wasn't close to the metal tab and father away yet than what my last picture shows

That picture was with the base timing set to 0. Now i took it out of the garage and it dies when i let the clutch out, it sounds like a diesel when i start going. I also got codes 42 and 44 this time. I triple checked my firing order, all good there, i made sure none of the spark plug wires...
Ok now i after i adjusted the valves the proper way it idles really low. I got the timing closer to the mark but it still back fires every now and again. I got this picture of the timing while running with the tan black wire hooked up

Well new distributor from oreilly and it idles great. Except the timing chain must of jumped a tooth, i can't get the timing mark on the balancer with in an inch without it dying soi got it set by ear and it runs good.
The new distributor was $125 and includes gasket, cap and rotor.

Found this on the wires coming from icm
Also when you spin the shaft it feels like it has lobes, it gets a little resistance then gets easy to spin, then gets tight again.
Also this truck did have a miss going down the high way, like cruising in 4th gear, i couldn't eVen put it in 5th gear...
I see what you're saying, but i can't even adjust the initial timing down to 0* would one cylinder missing cause this?
