Rear Brakes Locking up - HELP

All good suggestions so far. Interestingly, if you have an axle seal leaking onto the brakes, it will cause them to lock up. You wouldn't think 90w gear oil would ever, in a million years, cause that..... but it does. Leaky wheel cylinder (already suggested) could also be doing it. Anyway, time...

Rear Brakes - Loud rubbing/scraping noise??

Hmmmm, with all new parts, the slight drag as you rotate a wheel should be fairly consistent. Have you narrowed down the trouble to the right rear wheel?????? You mention new bearings, which means you pulled the axles out. Did you happen to check them for straightness while you had them out...

    ABS KEEPS IN GAUGING

Beautiful truck!!!! You keep her in nice shape, that's for sure... Well done....

Rear Brakes - Loud rubbing/scraping noise??

Jack up wheels and try to rotate by hand. There should be slight drag, but only slight. Brakes should never get really hot, unless you've just slowed down a heavy load on a big hill. If they're getting hot under normal use, then something is dragging. It should become self-evident which wheel...

Electric issues with 4x4, fan & dash lights

I totally concur with others - you've got a classic ground issue. There are a number of grounds spread around, look carefully at each one and clean them all thoroughly. If any doubt at all, replace the ground strap or main battery cable(s).

    ABS KEEPS IN GAUGING

99% of the time this is an ABS wheel speed sensor. Often times a code will give you a clue as to which wheel. The sensors are cheap, and easy to replace. Or the reluctor might be just dirty/rusty. The green arrow on the pic points to where all the magic happens. The sensor picks up the little...

intermittent engine start and die issue

I had a '98 K1500 5.7L. I agree with all above. BUT just in case it's not one of the above issues, do you have a security light that flashes at all? My truck was doing similar to yours (not exact, but similar) and it turned out to be VATS issue, which I easily bypassed with a resistor. On the...

    One brake drum locking

My guess order is: 1) leaking axle seal, 2) sticking parking brake, and, 3) adjusted too tight

Getting rid of the mushy brake pedal; share your tips

LOL, I had exact same truck, and I had EXACT SAME FEELINGS ABOUT BRAKE PEDAL on that truck. Like you, I bled (and replaced things) on that system time and time again. I even took it to local service station (where the guy was a total genius old-school mechanic) and he could not get it any...

    Sticky caliper?

Interesting stuff. Please keep posting. I normally use temp gun to check for sticking brakes. Just drive a little, make a few relatively hard stops, and then check with temp gun. That will reveal a lot. Of course, the hotter side is the one doing more work, but it doesn't mean that side is...

1998 Silverado Passlock Issue ---- ugh

This is a VATS issue - Vehicle Anti Theft System. If you're at all handy, then fix it yourself. I had a '98 K1500 that did exact same thing. I took it around to a few shops, they were perplexed. Dealer wanted to install new wiring harness for HUGE money, LOL. It was ludicrous. So I went...

    1993 Sierra 5.7 K1500 auto rattle/vibration noise FIXED!

I watched the vid and couldn't really tell which noise you were referring to. When confronted with situation like this, I always revert to the "Occam's Razor" principal....... Occam's razor (or Ockham's razor) is a principle from philosophy. Suppose there exist two explanations for an...

    No Brakes

Your initial description of problem indicates that air in system is absolutely the primary suspect. Someone already suggested pressure bleeder, and that would be a great next step.

    VATS VOODOO: PASSlock workaround questions:

I had a '98 K1500 that drove me crazy with this issue, until I found the simple bypass trick (pic below) where you cut one of the wires under dash, measure resistance with key on, then solder matching resistor into two wires. It sounds like this is this bypass method you used. I will say, it...
