    Probably bent valve on 1 and 2 pull heads and take them to a machine shop and have them check the heads these trucks being fuel injected tend to not have bad cylinder walls in most cases so I don't think it is rings.

    97,98,99 L31 should have a filler neck. Also there shouldn't be a problem with the cooler.

    Do a compression test on all cylinders, only way to tell if compression is the root of your problem. When changing plugs is the perfect time to do this test.

    If it is magnafluxed to check for fractures in the rest of the block skirt it will be fine to run after proper machining.

    I can cheat and use straps made of the seat belts in the yard, they allow you to use anything you can find in the yard other than the carts so I can carry alot of weight on my shoulders and use my legs not my arms. ;)

    The truck is a factory 70k 1990 454ss with a 3 speed th400 and a 14 bolt rear in 91 they put the 4l80e in but it was not a very good tranny in the first year so the tranny I would want is from a 94-95 it has a bad engine and has been parked for over 15 years but I would love to have overdrive.
