exhaust will look weird if you raise the rear bumper, bumper will look weird if you dont, lots of frame showing, no real clearance gains without a bigger tire

Really? Any exhaust shop can raise your exhaust tip(s) back up under the bumper, once you raise the bumper....Little more frame showing but nothing Nerfbars or Nfabs won't fix, no type or style of lift kit gives you any clearance gains without a bigger tire so that argument applies to suspension, body, and crank lifts...You could put a 20" suspension lift on with your stock 33's and the axles would have no more ground clearance than a stock Z71 on 33's...But what lift's do is allow for the bigger tires to gain ground clearance..With a body lift it would still sit stouter and ride higher which I think is all that dudes going for.

Not tryin to pick on your hezsus but just letting the guy know the real deal.

The only real negative I've seen is the radiator thing but with a 2" body it might not be near as bad :hmm:

Hamill, do you have any pics of your truck & the CV angles with a 2" rear block & cranked? How far did you have to crank to be level?

I have been researching every thread I can find on here & GMFS since making this thread & it seems like basically everyone across the board agrees 2" crank is the max you'd want to go without getting into nasty angles. I saw some pics of angles that should scream de-crank but guys asking if they can go more, LOL.

As it sits right now it seems from my measurements anyway the rear is about exactly 1-1.25" higher. So if I was to crank 2" in the front while watching my angles & add a 1.5" block to the rear that would be pretty close to level correct? As in it wouldnt be any more noticeable than it is now? Cause a 2" block would put me back exactly where I'm at right now correct, 1" lower still in front?

Also anyone shed a little light on my shock question about the ones sold as a "+" size? The truck appears to still have the original yellow Bilstiens on it as well. So new shocks wouldnt be a real big suprise honestly.

Thankx for the reply southern, I have seen you comment in on alot of threads with good info man. The body lift is my least favorite choice right now but thats not to say after a slight crank, rear block & new shocks I wont "ever" do a 2" BL. I do agree though the bigger the BL the worse it looks IMO anyway. The more I looked at pics of BL the more it made me wanna crank it up, LOL.

I have a 3" BL and my coolant temp still sits right at 195, there is nothing technical to worry about with a body lift.. Just don't tow with your bumper if you decide to relocate it 3" higher.

Aww, the catch, I do use my truck to tow things & am plannin on a boat in the future. Also how does a BL effect your factory tow package hitch? I normally dont use my bumper since I have a tow package, but I'm curious, might be a dumb question, LOL.

Yeah dude it's actually 1.5" is the max you want to go so you throw that 2" block out back and :nono: your hood will be pointing at the ground...A 1" block would be a way better choice. I dunno tho obviously there are people that like the 2wd stance on 4x4's so up to you!!

Well since a towing package (hitch) is attached to the frame then it is unaffected by the body lift meaning it does not lift up with the body. However, if you got a hidden hitch like me :D It sit's behind and above your rear bumper at stock height compared to a regular hitch which sits under your bumper..So if you have a hidden hitch and body lift the bumper will raise above the hitch but it will end up sitting right under the bumper just like a regular hitch, where as if you have a regular hitch and do the body lift and raise the bumper there will be a 2-3" gap depending on how big a body lift you get. SO if you don't have a hitch and plan on body lifting get a hidden one :D

They can always raise your exhaust and bumper and make it to where everything looks legit except the frame hanging except the hitch since it's attached to the frame..I've seen some members with regular hitches make spacers and raise it up but I sure as hell wouldn't do it on mine but I tow 5 days a week.

I hear ya. Hell when I bought the truck I thought it looked level to me, LOL. So I guess a 1" difference from front to rear I personally wouldnt even really notice unless it gets more obvious the higher you go. But seeing as how I'm only lookin for about 2" I'm not sure how noticeable it'd be.

Obviously I still have alot of thinking & research to do before goin any certain direction. I do know 100% that in December I'm buying tires.

No you're golden a 1" difference is one of those things that is not noticeable EXCEPT when ya pull into certain spots and you'll see what I'm talking about...You pull in a certain grade or back in a certain way and it will look alot lower in the front, then you get it out on super flat ground and it looks fine...Just depends but is nothing to worry about.
