Which trans?

hello everyone. Just bought a 1998 Chev Silverado 2500 with the 7.4.

How do I know which trans is in it?

4L60 or 4L80?

look at the pan and count the bolts. If i remember correctly a 4l80e has 17 bolts and a 4l60e will have 16. I would guess having a 7.4 it will have the 80e.

You have a 98 K2500 with a Silverado trim package and a 4L80E tranmission. A Silverado 2500 is a model based on the GMT-800 platform first available for the 1999 model year.

If you crawl underneath, the transmission probably has 4L80E cast into the side of it someplace.... I think the passenger side.

To my knowledge, GM never offered the 454 with the 4L60.
