Okay, I had gotten that out of your post before hand, it confused me when reading skylark's post, for some reason :x
Thanks guys.

Can you run a vortec cam in a tbi?

Not on it's on. The Vortec cams are roller cams and the TBI engines are flat tappet. You would need to take the whole roller valve train out of the Vortec engine.

Ok my question is this...Couldnt a Vortec engine be swapped in place of a TBI engine and run a 4 barrel intake and TBI adaptor to gain all the advantages of the vortec heads and cam set up but still keep it TBI?

Yes, yes it could. A lot of TBI engines and Vortec engines use the same block. Just move all your sensors from one engine to the other too.

Would it be a good idea to swap in a bigger cam I'm going back to a tbi set up with some mods to it

You are limited by the vortec to lift of no more than .480" (iirc) without new retainers/locks or you can swap springs but that requires machine work to the seat. The ht383 cam is a good one that will work with stock heads. I've heard of people using the Lt1/4 cams also
