Very little sound from cargo area speakers

I have a 99 K1500 Suburban with 4x10 speakers in the cargo area.

I get very little sound out these 2 speakers even with volume turned up considerably and faded to the rear. I switched the speakers out with known good speakers with the same result.

Is this normal or do I have a wiring issue or some other problem?

Could be a wiring issue, or it could be an issue with the rear two channels of amplification in your head unit. IIRC the front two and rear two speakers are driven straight off of the head unit, and the two middle speakers in the rear doors are driven off of the amp under the seat.
