Transmission grind on 95 1/2 ton 4x4 short bed

I have a 95 1/2 ton that seems to have developed an issue between H4 and 2WD. When in 2WD it has a high pitch gear grind but it completely quiets when I place in in 4WD. It seems that it doesn't completely transition out of 4WD and grinds. Any info would be awesome.

it sounds like a T case problem not a trany problem
