Hey there, about to order some tires here, and i was just curious. I plan on running 20x8.5 rims up front and 20x10 rims on back. On the front I'll have 255/40-20's. what size of 40 series tire should i have on the rear so that it is not stretched, and the truck sits level?

Thanks in advance!

If you go with a wider tire in the rear than the front, but still a 40 series tire, then no matter what you pick, it's going to be a taller tire. The '40' in the tire size is the aspect ratio. The aspect ratio is the height of the sidewall measured as a percentage of the section width. So, in the front, the sidewall is 40% of 255mm and in the rear the sidewall would be 40% of whatever wider width you have.

With that out of the way, if it's a 40-series you want, I would recommend a 295/40, but that 295/40 is about 1.3" taller than a 255/40.

295/35R20 will be the same diameter as the 255/40R20, but you better be sitting when you price them.

So in other words, sorry I was a bit confused, but if i want the tires to have approximately the same height, up front i should go with a 255/40 and in the back a 295/40?

Somebody should add that tire caluator as a sticky thread because it's pretty useful .
I'm looking into 18" wheels for the Silvy and could use all the tire info you guys can throw at me.

I'm gunna have to agree with making that a sticky. And as far as tire info, simply put, im stupid when it comes to tire/wheel intelligence

As far as my tire situation goes, i found some 275/45-20's. They are about 1.7 inches larger than the 255/40-20's. With the 1.5 inch difference between the two tire widths, would this make my truck sit about level? I'm slightly confused.

If the rear tires are 1.7" taller than the fronts, then no, it won't sit level unless you lower the rear suspension more.
