I gots a body lift question that's semi-stupid. I read around the internet that they are more dangerous than a suspension lift because you're putting more strain on the through bolt that holds the body to the frame. Makes sense, it now has an additional space to keep straightened out.

How great is the risk of the body mount failing with a body lift and stabbing through the floor in a barbaric way? How often do these failures happen? And could they be better prevented by installing new body mounts when installing a body lift kit?

I ask all this because my first plan was to install a 3" body lift but now the internet has scared me. I do like to do some light wheeling in shallow muddy/gravelly puddle areas.

Thanks guys!

yeah, thats for like, huge 5" or more body lifts. the sheer strength of a bolt is 40% of its tinsel strength, roughly. so to imply that you would need to worry about a body lift sheering off the frame of the truck.... you would have much, much more urgent problems at that time... like falling thousands of feet off a cliff or hitting a wall at a couple hundred MPH...
body lifts are just fine.

for just small aounts of wheeling your fine, a 3" body lift puts more strain on the bolts yes but as far as the body mount failing its no greater than a stock one failing so if it looks bad replace it. just make sure you use good bolts when your putting the lift on and youll be okay, just odnt be like the guy that made a 6" lift out of two 3" body lifts, then youll have a bad day.

Am I able to fit 285/70-17 (33 ish) with 2 inch spacers.. on a stock 97 half ton? It's 4x4 of course I'm just curious if it would rub or not when turning or flexing. The t-bars are cranked about an inch

They'll fit better without spacers they will rub not much though

I had the same size tires (no spacers though) and had zero rubbing issues.

Alright here goes a fairly dumb question.

I know all of the concern with a 3 inch rough country suspension lift has always centered around the fact that it's just a glorified crank and wouldn't make sense.
As I'm reading on their website though, I get the impression it's no longer that, since they now provide a differential drop bracket. So would that mean it wouldn't be entirely stupid to order a 3 inch suspension lift from rough country anymore?

IIRC, its a 1" diff drop. Meaning you have to crank 2" to get the full 3". Would be better off to buy the 6", decrank it to 4". Rides like a caddy, and doesn't put strain on your front end.
