Thanks, looking over the right and left cables, I found a few spots that looked crushed and rusted. Instead of pulling it apart, I took the cut off wheel to the cables about two inches in front of the drums. Wiggling the stub in my hand released the tension to the brakes and "released" the parking brake. Ordered up two new cables and will install shortly

Is the king pin a dana 60 only. Or is there a king pin dana 44. I know I dont have the king pin because I have ball joints. Just not sure if my axle is a 44 or 60. Thanks

if i want to upgrade to 3.73 gears for front an rear, front diffs are 8.5 ring gears correct? could I even use a rear axle kit? and if I install a posi traction package in the rear does the front need a posi as well?

Nope, not the same. The front differential is an 8.25" (or possibly a 9.25", but only on 3/4 ton and one ton trucks), much different from the 8.5" rear. You don't want any kind of aftermarket carrier in the front unless you're converting to manual locking hubs IMO. Leave that factory. Just do the gears.

I'd read a few things about fronts being 8.25 but also some about 8.5 so i wasn't for sure, thanks for clearing that up for me!

The rear end in my 1999 K1500 Suburban finally gave out. I have a rear end out of a 1992 c1500 silverado. I know my Suburban is 3.42, and im pretty sure the silverado is a 3.42 as well. Will i be able to use the c1500 rear end in my k1500 suburban? I know ill have to swap axles out to keep the six lug, but how would the sway bar brackets work?

I can't exactly help you with the sway bar question, but to my knowledge the 2wd axles are 2 inches short than a 4wd axle, so I'd reuse the original housing if you can an swap the guts.
