How hard would it be to swap the gears on the 14 bolt since they r welded. And how much would it cost and what parts needed. Sorry kinda a newb on axles

Depends on if the carrier pin is welded to the carrier itself. If not, then normal procedure. If so, then your probably gonna need everything short of a housing. If your good enough you can save the axles.

If it's "welded" the carrier is junk, you will need a new carrier. The ring and pinion will be quite fine. When you 'weld' the sidegears to the carrier, it's basically junk afterwards for anything other than mud / soft ground.

If done properly, it looks something like this in there:

Basically, toss the carrier and put in another.

For the average backyard wrench, it's just easier to slide in another axle from the yard....

This truck hasn't had too much thought put into the drivetrain, only non-stock parts are a 6" procomp lift and 285's. Sounds like just a cv axle. It stopped the clunking for the time being and is now to a squeak and almost a 'rubber on rubber' squeak sound. A little ticking too. It is just weird that the boot has no damage to it. Guess I'll just plan on changing that axle. Thanks guys!

Any parts store should be able to get them, just need to know your ring gear size (10.5=ff axle, 9.5=sf axle)

All local part stores only have half ton seals and they just slide in the 3/4 ton rear end
