Tbi short block swap

Alright I have looked and couldn't find nothing everyone always said they was changing to a roller cam. I have a 1996 k1500 with a spun main I have a rebuilt bored and came down 350 tbi short block can I just change the timing cover and will the vortec distributor gear work good if I halfto swap to a roller cam then I'm just gonna rebuilt the original motor.
