If you don't want to rebuild it, i would definately find a running tbi 350 out of a wrecked truck and get the engine/prom. Before you install your flywheel, if the engine came from a automatic truck, you will need to install a pilot bushing in the crankshaft.

Should be a direct swap, thats pretty low miles, if it was decently cared for, it should do good.

Besides the knock sensor, the outside of the blocks are identical, I'd get as much parts as i could with the engine tho, makes things easier and its always good to have spares.

Knock sensor is on the side of the engine block near the motor mount (passenger side) As long as the one that is in the 350 stays in it, it will be fine. Direct plug in, the 305 one just won't fit in the 350 block. PROM is the chip in the computer that has the info on it for the specific engine in the truck. It is easy to change. 4.3/5.0/5.7/7.4 engines all have different PROM chips. The 5.0 and 5.7 share the same throttle body and injectors. You will just need the computer chip for the extra cubic inches.

Best i remember, its just the PROM that has to be changed. Im sure it would run on the 5.0 PROM, but would make more power/run better with the 5.7 one.
