I'm assuming you are talking about on a c1500? If so you can use a 4x4 rear axle of your choice and the 6 lug front swap. It's done through changing the brake rotors.

Get rotors off a c2500 light duty and your good to go up front. Either adapters or a 4wd rear axle

4wd and 2wd axles are 3 inches different in width. You need a light duty C2500 2wd axle (14 bolt semi float) and matching front rotors.

Are the 6 lugs the same bolt pattern as long as they are 6 bolt? Also What years did the lug setup come on?

I have alot more questions but I dont want to be that dumb guy askinmg questions because I know its annoying.. I'm new to this platform but I've been doing the car thing for awhile. I inherited this 1995 ECSB C1500 when my father passed and it needs ALOT so I'm slowly going through it.

Is there a good FAQ about these trucks that I should read through to learn alot of the answers to the "dumb" questions I'm asking?

Is there a way to do a brake upgrade in conjunction with the 6 lug swap while using junkyard/oem parts? Can the newer(nbs or newer) splindles be installed on the GMT400?

There are a couple of guys that want to try it. Ccreddell is fairly certain that he can make it work. I just need time to hack off the frame of my 800 parts truck for him.

The bottom line is I want to make the truck safer to tow 8000lbs or so. I will be doing a 5.3/4l60e swap out of an 03 silverado. I plan on a 3.73 14bolt out of a newer tow package 1500.

I was thinking of using one out of a 08+ 1500 w/max tow package
