Seems like there was a brief period in mini truck circles that the "roadster pickup " was a thing. I think maybe that's what this guy was going for..... seems like a waste of a decent cab though. At least he's willing to let it go for parts.....

Been seriously considering selling my 97 this winter and stepping up to the GMT800 series, I REALLY like this one: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2666369496975594/

Though, the toolbox and black bowtie would have to go immediately, and be replaced with a soft roll up bed cover and paint the bowtie red. Then chrome mirror caps, chrome door handle covers, and stainless step bars. I'd also want to put the stock muffler back on, I'm not a fan of muffler deletes.

I don't think you'd regret it. My 06 has right at 300k miles and the only major repair I've had to do is have the transmission rebuilt at 264k. Other than that just gas and general maintenance. Interior is roomier also.

Do you notice a difference in power in your 06 vs. your 98? My dad has said the 5.3 has more pep than the Vortec 5.7. I have only driven an 800 maybe twice at best, but it's been a few years since I have.

Yes and no. Much better throttle response and more get up and go when you get on it.Better mpg also. Torque wise for towing I use my 98 more than the 06 but I attribute that to the 98 having 3:73s and the 06 has 3:42s. I think with a lower gear the 06 would tow better than the 98 also.
