You could sas and keep it near stock height, but the amount of effort, time, and fabrication would be extensive. You would definately have to link the front suspension and notching the front frame significantly would be needed, the issue you approach with this method is that the motor mounts pretty much occupy parts of the frame that you need to re-work which adds more headaches. ideally you will want a 80-90's ford d60 axle in hopes that with such a far offset diff you can stuff the front axle up high enough to still have some up-travel for a comfortable ride,. If you are going to this extent, might as well just address all the issues and short comings of the stock IFS.

Another option to consider is a fabricated 9" axle, the diff is a little smaller and might be easier to package.

Now just curious if this could be possible. It is known from the off-roaders that any SAS would require a minimum of roughly 6" of lift to compensate for uptravel. How much uptravel are we talking about here? For those of us who want the SAS for looks and the feel of a tough truck would an SAS with say a 3-4" of lift have the same uptravel of the gmt400 stock or a 3" lifted square body truck without cutting into the frame? In this case it probably wouldn't be worth spending that kind of money on these trucks but lets say money isn't a factor.
