I sanded down the alt and compressor with a small flap wheel on my die grinder. This I used a cotton buff loaded with triipoli. Then, I used a die grinder with another cotton buff loaded with some white jewelers rouge. Then I finished up with some white diamond metal polish. That was done by hand, and took 3 to 4 coats. There are how to videos on you tube. After the white jewelers rouge, it leaves a good shine, but the real trick is the white diamond metal polish. I also like using scott blue paper towles to apply and remove, buff out the white diamond metal polish. This polish will turn black once it is applied. Here are a few videos. and a pic of the flap wheels I used. I used these on a die grinder, but it could be done with a drill.Kenny, that looks sweet.
Would you mind sharing your method? I’m a car detailer and dabble in metal polishing, as well. Very interested what you did.

You need to finish up with some white diamond metal polish. That valve cover will look like chrome if you do. It has a sealer in it, so it will last for a while before it needs to be redone. Not a Chevy but y daily driver stainless exhaust next to cYou must be registered for see images attach
