I don't know. It's hard to tell. I've never seen anything beyond these pics of it, but it does look like something more than just a straight silver stripe.

I have a 93 and I dont like it, 94-on GMC grille looks the best IMHO.

On square bodies, the '89-'91 GMC Suburban grille is my favorite. I have all the parts except for the headlights to put that grille on my dually.

I love the 73-79 grille(s), which is the same style 80 had, except for the square headlights.
