Hey Road Trip!Greetings BlueManLou,
Welcome aboard! I think that you will like it in here. You will find super people from all
walks of life who share your appreciation for any and all things GMT400.
Speaking of which, those Factory Service Manuals are the gold standard, and they cover
all flavors of the GMT400 family, Trucks, Suburbans/SUVs, Caddys, GMCs, and even the Bow Tie stuff.
As @South VA alluded to, I share a similar background, got to do 20+ years in Flightline Avionics,
C-130 & F-106, big break of service, and then most of my time on F-16s like these: Green Mountain Boys
If you were comfortable with the Wiring Diagrams in the T.O. Library, in no time you'll be able to
find the answers you're looking for in the General's manuals. I have no doubt that you will be able to turn
back the hands of time on your truck, and fix those electrical issues for a lot less coin than trading
it in on a new truck. Your boss will be astounded. :0)
BTW, nice truck! 8-luggers have a bit of a cult following in here.
Glad to cross paths with you.
Cheers --
It is great to cross paths with another avionics guy, and F16s to boot... but wow F106's.. very nice. I joined in 82, and got out in 94, but then did some time in the USAR in 2004 and played in the sand for about 5 months before getting discharged. I later joined the USAFR, but they wouldn't let me back on the flightline because of hearing in one ear... so where did they put me... Power Generation... LOL generators... in a CE Squadron.
Anyway it is great to be here, and I am itching to start tearing into the truck to get the lighting issues fixed.
I had issues were the blinkers would stop blinking when I stepped on the brake, then no taillights but brake lights good, as well as no blinkers in the back when I turned the headlights on...
I checked both rear taillight assemblies and found corroded sockets and a bunch of nastiness on both of them. I changed both assemblies out, but it seems I have no tail, brake or blinkers... I think when I took it apart I agitated a loose ground somewhere, as now I have zero lights in the back.
I have downloaded all the 91 service manuals off the linked page, so now I have some documentation to work with.
It will be fun
Thanks again and glad to meet you and be here with all you all!
