Need some help with a no start problem

Well, I got it running again, and I replaced the pump and filter for no reason.
There was a wire coming off the distribution block on the firewall that had fried, like it disintegrated when I moved it, and it apparently is the power feed to the pump.
So I ran a new in-line fuse holder with a 20 amp blade fuse and all is good now.
