loud noise coming from barn door

I have a 2000 z71 obs the other day when I turned the key on I heard a loud noise coming from the rear door . sound like whatever locks the doors got stuck on . did it twice. Any ideas what needs to be replaced

Will the door still lock? And if yes your actuator may be going bad. If the door will not lock, it is most possible that the rod is hanging off the latch of the handle. Mine did it a while back and I just took the door panel off and put some duct tape around it and haven't had a problem since. I thought it was the actuator, and went to the junk yard and got one but didn't need it. Now they are a pain to remove the factory ones with the rivets unless you have a dremel tool.
