Just bought. 1996 Tahoe. 109K

Just bought this clean 96 Tahoe. Kinda wanted a pre 95 suburban, but this was my dream color combo. Paid $3500. Sadly the 4L60e seems to be shifting kinda rough the more I drive it. Despite those issues this truck should have loads of life in it, only 109K miles

The common 1 to 2 shift can be bad sometimes. But it really seems to get weird on the highway, if you need to downshift suddenly and then go back into 4, it does so roughly both times. Which is why on my test drive of it I didnt notice.

1-2 could be a broken accumulator spring, pretty easy fix just messy.

New pair of springs on left, original ones on right.

Thanks will do some research on it. Previous owner said the tranny was rebuilt. Either that was bs or they botched something in there.

Nice price, I just got a 96 tahoe with 93k for 5 grand. Yeah feels pretty fresh and after changing all fluids I skipped the tranny because I've put 3k since becoming second owner and it shifts perfect. What's your plans for it?

Nice ride! Hopefully you can get that trans fixed but if you have to do a full rebuild put a better 4th gear in so you can get the gas mileage up into the mid twenties! To help you keep more dollars in your pocket to spend on trips creating memories with your new Tahoe!

Are you sure they didn't just make it shift snappier with the rebuild as opposed to something being wrong?
