Dude you would have been SOoooo much better off with EFI Connection's 24x Coil on plug system.
would have saved you all of that fab work and having to run a distributor all together.

and yeah not to mention that even there, there is some fab work involved, thats the only reason i havent done it, most likely a dumb question but what is it about the optispark that doesnt work?

From what I have learned, no actual experience, they are prone to moisture, either WP leaking, a bad hose, to water on the road splashing up and contaminating the internals. the heart of the system in a glass wheel with 300+ marks that an optical reader reads, hence OPTISPARK. On my job, I work with optical sensors that read down to 3 microns for positioning, A human hair is near 12 microns. on our systems a flake of dust so small that you or i can't see does shut us down. the opti is a revolutionary idea that was way ahead of its time, but it was not executed properly. and the engineers should be flogged for not designing a better sealing system, how could you miss the obvious, lessons learned from the Corvair for one. they had a bad habit of catching fire and burning down, why? you ask! how about the mechanical fuel pump mounted 3inches above the point system distributor?? hum?? I'll bring the marsh mellows!! but that is off topic,

I went this way for ease of service, cost, and reliability pure and simple. with it being a 4X4 it will see mud, some deep water rescues, the last 2 big floods I had my truck driving into flooded areas to rescue people, and had water inside the cab, I cant risk a distributor failure when I am 1/2 mile from dry ground. In reality there are no good or easy choices, Everybody has to decide what short comings they can live with. plus how much labor, and cost they can put up with for the duration, figure in to the equalization what you are actually doing with your machine
