Correct, there are only two stall speeds from the factory, high, which small block trucks got, and low, which 6.5/7.4 trucks got. I would go lower.

I knew with the 4l60e the 4.3 got 2000, the 305 got a 1650, and 350 got 1350. What's the numbers with the 4l80e

As far as I know, they never rated them, they merely call them high or low, with a single or dual element stator.

I wouldn't mind one with a switch for a 2000 then flip a switch and go to a 1000 stall it would be at 1000 most of the time.

Old Buicks did that. Called it a "switch pitch".

My converter flashes to about 2000 or so, hard to say with my flaky tach.

Mine flashes to almost 2500 but its a 4.3 converter
