I would skip the gauge, it will just have you worried all the time its running to hot when its really not.

I just have a very heavy duty (Racing Oil Cooler) oil cooler, no gauge.

Only time i see it "Necessary" to have a Trans Temp gauge is if your racing slot or towing alot.

ive been through tons of trannys in my truck and i think one of them was because i had an extremely weak water pump and everything was always overheating, so itd be good just to have it to keep an eye on
