Help identifying parts

I have a 1989 Chevy k2500 4x4 350 tbi with a 700R4 transmission and NP241C transfer case. I am trying to figure out what the section I highlighted in picture is between the transfer case and the drive shaft. I have a picture on the label on it but is is quite faded. I replaced the VSS which in my manual says its on the transfer case but the manual only shows info on the transfer case I pointed to in picture and nothing on the other portion except for replacing VSS.

Looks like a Gear Vendors overdrive unit to me. The "G" on the label looks similar to what they use. Here's a random picture I found on Google as an example:

A kinda pricey ($3395 currently) gear splitter. You didn't notice you have an "8 speed" transmission? Is it working?

Right? I'd flip if I bought a project truck and it just happened to have a GV unit. Or a Whipple. Or an 8.1 swap. With a Whipple. And a GearVendors. and a suitcase full of cash crammed under the seat... I mean, while we're wihshing

Yes, does work. I have never tried to engage the transfer case though for 4wd.

That changes rear driveshaft speed only. May want to be careful using that in conjuction with locking in the front end in,could cause a bind up.
