It doesn't matter if it from park or neutral. It is a 4L60, I believe. 16 bolts in the tranny pan. I can't read the glovebox tag. It engages harshly and then skips back or forward. The yokes are good. And I believe the pinion bearing is good as well? There's no movement whatsoever in the yokes. Thanks.

In park when cold it's about 1500 and it drops down a ways. Maybe to 1200. I think I might have narrowed it down to a bad u joint. Seems to make sense. It leaks a little trans fluid where the driveshaft meets the t case at the u joint. Is my thinking correct?

I can take a video later. But it clunks going from R to D, D to R, P to D, P to R, N to D, N to R.

A bad U joint, will do this, but 1500 RPMs is to high. Even 1200 is to high. Idle should be around 750 to 800 RPMs in N or P ,and around 650 to 750 in gear (drive or reverse)

How about when it's cold? Because when it's warmed up to operating temp, it's about where it should be.

I'm also getting that vibration when slight turn going slow that's reminiscent of a u joint.

That idle is too high regardless of cold or warm. It should never be over 1000 except for a second or 2 when it initially fires. What's the temp outside?

I don't have a check engine light or anything. It doesn't suck more gas at all. Maybe the old TB gasket?
