ok guys i need help deciding on what to do I have cracked rings in my 5.7l and now im trying to decide what to do

1. R&R a rebuilt 5.7l
2. rebuild my 5.7l to a 383 with mods
3. LS swap just not sure on which style of motor to go with


the truck is a 97 RCSB

everyones gunna say LSx

it's a great motor.

i've done alot of 383's and had raving success. but, it's alittle pricy for a DD

i vote 572 ;)

if it was mine i would swap in a 454/4l80e and harness from a vortec 454 truck as those are getting cheaper these days

An LS 5.3 or 6.0 will be able to get more power and better gas mileage for cheaper in the long run than a 383, but it does cost a little more and take more work up front than a 383 or 350 rebuild

exactly what i want to do to mine eventually... I just rebuilt my 5.7 about a year ago because i did not have the money 454 swap ... but it will happen... someday... i HOPE lol
